EGAN Medical Opens Sales Booth at Bonanza

EGAN Medical to Develop Selling Profile at eBay Alternative

EGAN Medical has opened a sales booth at third party site Bonanza, EGAN's first venture involving third-party brokers and/or marketplaces since the company made the decision to discontinue selling on eBay due to treacherous (and criminal) behavior on behalf of eBay company PayPal and/or PayPal employees.

EGAN Medical to Sell at Ebay Alternative Bonanza

Bonanza is a relatively young, upstart third-party marketplace similar in some ways to eBay and Amazon. After careful consideration of a number of websites and third-party marketplaces, it was determined that Bonanza was primed and ready for the entry of a company like EGAN Medical into the marketplace.

Ebay Alternative

EGAN will retain its primary brand identity by operating under the Bonanza username EganMedical. Many of the products EGAN plans to make available for purchase through it's Bonanza sales booth will be similar and/or the same as our featured on the EGAN Medical website. However, in much the same way that EGAN utilized eBay as a resource for selling odd items and other products that for whatever reason were deemed unsuitable to become permanent installations or long-term additions to the EGAN Medical product catalog. While the plan is to maintain some element of surprise for those customers who do check out the EGAN Medical Bonanza sales booth, one safe bet is that the product offerings will be fairly heavy on compression stockings and maternity care products such as the Mini Cradle, a back & belly support for women who are pregnant, and the younger, scaled-down cousin of the Prenatal Cradle and Best Cradle.

There are three primary components to a sale sales presence at Bonanza: 1) A selling profile; 2) A sales booth; and 3) The actual product pages themselves.

EGAN Medical's selling profile at Bonanza can be located here: http://www.bonanza.com/users/8869689/profile.

The practicality of the URLs for the sellers' respective sales booths appear to make more sense then do the URLs for the user profiles. For one thing, they contain the username of the Bonanza seller in addition to a directory for booths, Bonanza's rough equivalent to what eBay calls an "eBay Store". EGAN's booth is located at the following address: http://www.bonanza.com/booths/EganMedical.

Finally, there are the actual product pages. While EGAN has as of the time of this writing only created a single product page, the development of a robust presence within the burgeoning marketplace is in the works.

Not surprisingly, EGAN's first product addition to the company's new Bonanza sales booth falls within the category of maternity belts and supports, a challenging category under which to sell within third-party marketplaces due to the decision sellers must make to categorize their products in either the 'Medical/Mobility/Disability' category under the 'Braces and Supports' subcategory, or list the products under the 'Fashion/Attire' umbrella category, "Maternity" subcategory and typically "Other" third-level category. Maternity Belts and Birthdays

Maternity Belts and Birthdays

A Letter from EGAN Medical CEO Peter Egan

Every year on December 27 and 28, I spend considerable time replying to messages and thanking people. The reason is that my birthday is on the 26th. Literally several hundred people will leave birthday wishes on my timeline before the day is over.

This year, the first such wish came in around the 23rd of December. It was from Mr. Darrell Seeeing, co-owner of It's You Babe, LLC.

To all my friends unfamiliar with Mr. Seering, he and wife Christine are the owners of Its You Babe, LLC, maker of the world's finest Maternity Belts and Vulvar Varicosities Supports. the products were designed and patented by Mrs. Seering, the first of which inspired by a desire to help Darrell's sister be relieved of intense pain associated with her pregnancy.

The original product was the Prenatal Cradle, however the line quickly expanded to include such items as the Mini Cradle (maternity belt), Best Cradle (adjustable Prenatal Cradle), Hip Brace, V2 Supporter (for Vulvar Varicosities), Prenatal Cradle Plus V2 and Hip Brace Plus V2.

Much like my mother (Pamela Egan)'s articles were so innovative, topics she wrote about 7 and 8 years ago are still being plagiarized and republished by newspapers, famous media "doctors" and no-name bloggers alike; the It's You Babe line of #maternity products is the standard all other maternity belts, belly bands, pregnancy cradles, hip braces, trochanter belts and compressive undergarments for treating Vulvar Varicosities aspire to replicate. Many try, as of yet none have succeeded.

If you are pregnant, know someone who is pregnant, work for or operate an #OBGYN clinic or anyone else potentially interested in these products, the entire It's You Babe line can be purchased directly by consumers and physicians' offices alike right from the EGAN Medical website.

To become a fan of EGAN Medical and It's You Babe please visit http://www.facebook.com/eganmedical and http://Facebook.com/itsyoubabe, respectively.

EGAN Medical Meets It's You Babe --- In Person

EGAN Medical CEO Has Dinner With It's You Babe Founders at Dickie Brennan's in New Orleans

On Saturday, May 04, 2013, Peter Egan and Katherine Henderson of EGAN Medical had the honor and privilege of hosting Chris and Darrell Seering of It's You Babe, LLC for a dinner at Dickie Brennan's Steakhouse in downtown New Orleans.

And an honor it was indeed. In Peter's 31 years, he recanted the following day, he'd met very few individuals much less couples in possession of the combination of class, kindness, friendliness, intellect and wit.

Katherine and Peter couldn't help but discuss on the drive back to Long Beach their shared impression that they had a fair amount in common with the Seerings, and wouldn't be altogether shocked if they were to bear a striking resemblance to the Seerings 20 years from now, provided the good Lord helps keep the two of them together for that long.

If they (Katie and Peter) are lucky, they'll be in a position similar to Chris and Darrell 20 years from now (and not just from the standpoint of business).

They are a couple that are very much along the lines of what Peter and Katie aspire to become over time.

Peter was very clear that he really enjoyed the opportunity to chat with them for a few hours. There was so much to talk about on so many levels, some related to business, some not.

It was one of those meetings where although you're meeting someone for the first time, it feels like you've known them for years and are merely catching up.

They were exactly as he (Peter) envisioned them, and he said afterward that could not have been any more impressed with the two of them, their intellect as individuals and as a couple, and the manner in which they present themselves.

After spending just a few short hours with these upstanding entrepreneurs, it is easy to see how they manage to produce the world's premiere maternity support, not to mention the world's premiere compression therapy garment indicated for vulvar varicosities (a product called the V2 Supporter).

The maternity support is known as the Prenatal Cradle, and there is also an adjustable version (linked to in previous paragraph) called the Best Cradle.

All-in-all, it was a pleasure and honor to have been given the opportunity to host such an admirable couple for a dinner at one of the city (and world's) finest dining establishments. Everyone in the EGAN Medical family was thrilled that Katie and Peter not only got to meet Mr. and Mrs. Seering, but take them to dinner in a city known for its cuisine. Even those who did not attend were excited for Peter and Katie.

After spending a few hours with them, Peter said he understood why his initial 'gut instinct' telling him to invest into the It's You Babe line of products was so powerful that he acted upon it with almost no data to support the decision. Obviously, it's worked out well so far, and should that change at any point it certainly won't be for lack of effort.

EGAN Medical Celebrates First-Ever Sale to Pakistan

EGAN Medical Celebrates First-Ever Mid-East Sale

Egan Medical is celebrating its first-ever sale to a customer outside of North America and Europe today. The sale involved the purchase of a Best Cradle (adjustable Prenatal Cradle) maternity support to a customer in of all places Pakistan.

While not listed on the list of ship-to countries, EGAN Medical has long held a quiet policy of shipping anywhere in the world if an individual customer from any given country were to send an email requesting a shipping quote to that individual's respective locale.

Well, a gentleman from Pakistan did just that, and EGAN Medical replied with a shipping quote which surprised both parties in terms of the price. No, it wasn't shockingly high, but rather the opposite. The shipment cost just over $12 U.S. dollars, a figure which both parties found to be quite reasonable all things considered.

About a week after the gentleman requested the shipping quote, an order came through with a shipping destination in Pakistan.

The sale is notable within the annals of EGAN Medical firsts in that it was not just the company's first-ever sale to a Pakistani customer, it was EGAN's first-ever sale to a customer located anywhere but the United States, Canada, Ireland, United Kingdom, France, Spain, Italy, Greece or Portugal. Prior to the shipment to Pakistan, EGAN had not experienced a sale beyond the reaches of North America and Western Europe. (Article Continued Below Image)

Maternity Support - Pakistan

As for the product purchased, one could not be faulted for wondering what type of product is so rare and important that buying it from someone halfway around the world is worthwhile and justified. Well, apparently the Best Cradle (Adjustable Prenatal Cradle), which is manufactured by a Michigan-based company called It's You Babe, LLC, is that important. The Best Cradle provides support to virtually every spot on a woman's body that experiences pain as a direct result of being pregnant. It is more comprehensive than a traditional maternity belt in the design, and as a result can help relieve pain all over the body as opposed to merely the abdominal region and back.

The Best Cradle was apparently important enough to one gentleman that he went well out of his way to find out if a company was willing to ship to his country-of-origin, request a shipping quote, then purchase it from halfway across the globe so that his daughter would be as comfortable as possible during her pregnancy.

EGAN Medical Targets Alabama News Readers Online with New Ad Campaign

EGAN Medical to Target Alabama Residents

EGAN Medical has decided to try an experiment involving online classifieds published in the online versions of legitimate print media publications. To begin with, EGAN published a basic ad for the award-winning Prenatal Cradle maternity support at AL.com, the primary news website geotargeted to the state of Alabama, a state in which EGAN Medical executive director Peter Egan coincidentally resided and attended journalism school for the better part of two years.
EGAN Medical Equipment & Supply

EGAN, upon learning of its inclusion in Health Tech's 2012 Top Healthcare and Medical companies list, created a number of classified advertisements promoting individual medical equipment, nutritional or orthopedic products. These product listings can be accessed from the company's main listing page, which is located at the following uniform resource locator (URL): http://www.jazdhealthcare.com/healthtech/company/EGAN-Medical-Equipment-and-Supply.htm?supplierId=20014334

Fingertip-style pulse oximeters, ankle walker boots and vitamin D3 supplements were among the products listed at the EGAN Medical page at Health Tech's JazdHealthcare site.

This isn't the first time EGAN has experimented with online newspaper classified ads. The company tried a brief stint with NOLA (dot com), the Times Picayune's online affiliate website. Out of principle, EGAN withdrew these advertisements once the Times Picayune announced that the paper would cease to exist as a daily publication, opting instead for three print days per week - a schedule to which EGAN Medical firmly objects.

If the current ventures show promise, EGAN may be inclined to expand upon the idea of third-party classified niche advertising on the websites of established newspapers.

Customer Review: Prenatal Cradle by It's You Babe

"On top of the speedy shipment and A+ service, their (EGAN's) price was about $12 less than the next best price I could find." ~ Desiree Lewis of Eugene, Oregon

My pregnancy was extremely difficult. There were a few complications, and I definitely think it was the most challenging period I've ever had to endure in life. The Prenatal Cradle by It's You Babe made my life SO MUCH easier I can't even begin to describe it.

My mom had bought my two other maternity supports before I ordered a prenatal cradle from Egan Medical. Neither of them helped, and one even caused me pain in one of the few places I wasn't already hurting.

Prenatal Cradle by It's You BabeThe prenatal cradle felt like it was custom-designed to fit my body. It provided support everywhere that I needed it, and really surprised me with how much it helped relieve pain and stress on my back. Every singly part of my body hurt less after a day wearing a PC than it did before I started wearing it. As I got further and further along in my pregnancy, the amount of relief this seemingly simple undergarment brought me just seemed to increase proportionately to the size of my breasts and belly.

I highly recommend this product for any woman who is pregnant and in pain, or even women who aren't in tremendous pain but would like to engage in more physical activity than they can without the help of a maternity support such as the prenatal cradle.

As for where to buy, I was obviously very pleased with my experience with Egan Medical Supply, or else I probably wouldn't be writing this review.

I'm a bargain hunter, and I also like to deal with companies I can trust will ship on time and provide service after the sale. Egan had my order in my mailbox within three days, and they even let me exchange my original order for a larger size and covered the cost of the replacement shipment. I didn't expect them to do that, but the people I spoke with were very friendly and obviously hooked it up.

On top of the speedy shipment and A+ service, their price was about $12 less than the next best price I could find. Not sure how this company makes money, but from a customer's standpoint - especially that of an expecting, newlywed mom-to-be who is not particularly wealthy and who has to make every dollar count - Egan Medical was a Godsend. The next time I need anything they sell, chances are I'm going to get it from them. Though the prenatal cradle and vitamins are all I've purchased from them, my experience was so uncommonly positive that I do consider myself a loyal customer and hope to remain one for a long time to come.

They gave me a coupon for free shipping on some prenatal vitamins. The vitamins were kind of expensive, but they were the same price everywhere else I looked, and from what I gather are very high quality and far superior to grocery store or drug store vitamins, which don't absorb well at all.

Egan Medical Reaches Out to Local Media Online

We here at Egan Medical were extremely disappointed, disgusted and dismayed to learn of the Times Picayune's asinine decision to reduce publishing from seven to three days per week. While we do not anticipate the companies that will take over what once was America's best newspaper (in terms of the quality of the journalism itself) will succeed beyond three or four months before the new model implodes, we are experimenting with new features debuted on the paper's affiliate website to see if we can help prevent the seemingly inevitable bankruptcy of the paper that Egan's Executive Director has read every morning of his life since age four.

One interesting feature to recently debut on the site is a Classifieds section that enables people and businesses to create classifieds using an HTML editor as well as the ability to create classified listings of lengths far in excess of those sized for print.

Egan has created three such listings as an experimental trial. Depending upon how things go with these three listings, the company may or may not decide to invest into the program, with the goal of creating pages for some or all of Egan Medical's wide selection of medical equipment, medical supplies, orthopedic supports & braces, nutritional supplements and other healthcare-related products.

Only time will tell. One component of the classifieds system that we here at Egan are less-than-thrilled about is the 30-day nature of the ad. Why set a time limit? If the user is going to go through the trouble associated with creating a good listing, then why not allow the page created by the user to remain online until the item has been sold?

Sure, it can be removed from the top of the listings page as it ages, but leaving it online would do more justice to the person who took the time to create free content for the online division of the Picayune.

As per Egan Medical's experiment, the company's marketing leadership has decided to create listings for three of Egan's more popular items, and three which the competition (to refer to them as such is flattery beyond what is merited, but out of civility we'll overstate their significance as such) is completely and utterly unable to compete with Egan's prices dollar-for-dollar for the same exact items.

The products selected for the trial are as follows:
    Extended-Reach Toilet Wiping Aide
    Extended Wiper for Obese People
  1. Cervical Traction Device: Select Brand Over-Door Style Cervical Traction Set is a product intended to help people with neck injuries straighten out the spinal alignment near the neck, helping to reduce pain and ideally also help with the healing process of the injury itself.
  2. Extended-Reach Toilet Wiping Aide: The Long Reach Comfort Wipe is arguable the most high-quality AND cost-effective bathroom/wiping aide available on the medical supply market today. At just $13.50, it is priced at about 1/3 of what Egan's competitors charge for the same product, and features a comfortable, ergonomic design that extends reach by nearly 16 inches, helping the obese, disabled and those with dexterity issues achieve the same degree of cleanliness most everyone else takes for granted.
  3. Support Harness for Pregnant Women: The Prenatal Cradle is easily among the most popular of all of Egan Medical's numerous, high-quality maternity support products. It comes is a total of nine different sizes, with at least one that's perfect for virtually every woman of every shape and size. Out of thousands of these items sold over the years, Egan has yet to receive one single customer complaint about the quality of the product (and we never receive complaints about the quality of our service).
If the aforementioned product listings at the Times Picayune's new online classified site produce any legitimate leads from real customers and not from the advertisers hoping to convince the merchants that their site is referring customers, Egan may take a good, hard look at making this a staple of the company's local outreach efforts.

Egan already offers free local delivery to residents of Southeast Louisiana and Hancock and Harrison Counties along the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Despite the fact that the organization has promoted the free shipping program in a number of different media, as well as via a large banner affixed to the front of the storefront itself, most local customers appear to prefer to pay for shipping fees themselves, for reasons known only to themselves.

In any case, customers seeking to find an exclusive deal not found on at EganMedical.com, this blog or any of Egan's numerous social presences might want to take a look at the online affiliate website of the Times Picayune and see what specials are available from Louisiana's leading online provider of medical supplies and equipment - and one of America's fastest-growing medical equipment/supply firms - Egan Medical, the little store on Tyler Street in Covington with the blue banner stretching across the length of the building.

NOTE:  While Egan Medical is based in Covington, Louisiana, the company does business primarily outside the state, with customers placing their orders online from across the USA, Canada, Ireland and the UK.

How to Reduce the Number of Babies Born Addicted to Drugs

Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome

According to a study appearing in the Journal of the American Medical Association conducted by a team of researchers from the universities of Pittsburgh and Michigan, about one baby per hour was born addicted to opioid drugs during the 2009 calendar year, the result of chronic use by the mother during her pregnancy. This constitutes an increase of nearly 500% since the year 2000, according to the researchers.

Babies Born Addicted to Drugs
Opioid Painkillers
The condition of a baby being born addicted to drugs initially absorbed in-utero is known as neonatal abstinence syndrome. This is essentially a term for withdrawal symptoms, only rather than afflicting a recovering drug addict instead afflict a newborn baby, with symptoms such as seizures, tremors, respiratory troubles, vomiting and trouble holding-down food.

In an editorial accompanying the study, researchers bemoan the fact that treatment options have improved very little since 2000. However, when it comes to opioid addiction, the best treatment is prevention.

Here are two ways pregnant women can treat moderate-to-severe pain from pregnancy and other injuries or conditions without running the risk of becoming addicted to opioid painkillers used to treat pain:
Prenatal Cradle - Maternity Support
Prenatal Cradle
  1. Maternity Supports and Belts - Wearing a maternity support or maternity belt during pregnancy can help to ease the stress on the mother of having another human being growing inside her. While not the be-all, end-all, some of these, such as the patented Prenatal Cradle, have received rave reviews from customers who claim that the difference in the amount of noticeable pain is significant to say the least. However, not all products marketed to help relieve pain due to pregnancy are the same, and some work better than others. The main thing is to find one that is right for the user's individual body, shape and stage of pregnancy.

  2. Drug-free topical pain relievers such as Ben-Gay and the harder-to-find but more effective Biofreeze are a great alternative to both over-the-counter and prescription pain relievers and pain killers. Plus, these products do not contain addictive chemicals such as the opioids, nor liver-destroying chemicals such as acetaminophen (the generic name for the active ingredient in Tylenol).
Biofreeze

When it comes the health of your baby, no step is of too little importance to take. With the rapidly expanding number of mothers giving birth to drug-addicted babies, it may be time for a closer look at some alternatives to conventional methods of treating paid, particularly for women who are pregnant.
